Census

As mentioned at the Assembly, it is very important that all those who have a property in Spain and use public services such as transport, health centres, ambulances, hospitals, roads, schools, supplies (water, electricity, sewerage) register themselves on the census. All these services are adapted to the amount of people registered on the census. If you use these services without being registered on the Mijas Census you are causing harm to those who have fulfilled this moral duty and are registered, who suffer the consequences of the lack of solidarity.

On the other hand, it is frequent to hear complaints about the lack of interest from the Town Hall when it comes to matters of our urbanisation which is reflected in the lack of services received. Therefore, not only must we register ourselves on the census but also put our right to vote into practice in the munic¬ipal elections. We can even vote by post if we are out of Mijas at the time. If there are parts of the municipality that have a higher number of people who vote, the financial efforts and means from the Town Hall will go to these areas.

Through this article we would like to re-assure you all that being registered on the census is nothing to be afraid of, it does not mean paying taxes, nor having residence permits, nor los¬ing any right you may have in your home country (pensions, loss of nationality...). At the CUE office they can inform you of what you have to do to get registered on the census at the Town Hall. Elena Rolfsen, one of the directors of the Board, is going to be direct¬ly in charge of this matter, although any of the directors or the office personnel are at your disposal for any queries on this matter.

We, all together, can achieve all the services we need and ensure that the Town Hall collaborates more closely with us and supplies some of the services we request.

Empadronamiento

Tal como se expresó en la Asamblea, cada vez es mas necesario el empadronamiento de todos los que viven en Espana y que utilizan los servicios pthlicos tales como trans¬porte, sanidad, centros de salud, ambulancias, hospitales, carreteras, colegios, suministros (agua, luz, saneamiento). Todos estos servicios se adecuan a la poblaciOn empadrona¬da. Si ustedes los utilizan sin estar registrados en el padrOn de Mijas causan un grave perjuicio a aquellos que estan empadronados y sufren las consecuencias de su falta de solidaridad.

Por otro lado, es frecuente oir quejas de la falta de interes del Ayuntamiento en los asuntos de nuestra urbanizacidn que se refleja en la ausencia de prestacion de servicios. De modo que no solo hay que empadronarse sino que hay que ejercer el derecho al voto en las elecciones municipales, que se puede hacer mediante voto por correo en el caso de que no esten en ese momento en Mijas. Si hay partes del termino municipal donde la afluencia de votos es mayor, el mayor esfuerzo económico y de medios del ayuntamiento se centra en esas zonas.

Desde estas paginas les instamos a perder el miedo, empadronarse no significa pagar mas impuestos, ni tener per¬miso de residencia, ni perder ningun derecho en sus paises de origen (pensiones, perdida de nacionalidad...).En la oficina de la EUC le pueden informar de que necesi¬tan y como empadronarse en el Ayuntamiento. De este tema se va a encargar directamente Elena Rolfsen, miembro de la Junta Directiva, tanto ella como los otros miembros de la Junta Directiva y el personal de nuestras oficinas estara a su disposiciOn para aclararles cualquier duda que tengan al respecto.

Entre todos podemos conseguir que tengamos los servicios que necesitamos y que el Ayuntamiento se acerque un poco mas a nosotros y nos preste algunos de los servicios que reclamamos.
