| Some information from the Ministry of the Interior has recently been published in some newspapers in which an index of delinquency per habitant on the coastal municipalities has been shown. Mijas in comparison to Marbella, Fuengirola and Torremolinos has a much lower index of delinquency. Likewise, in our urbanisation, when it comes to major crimes, we have been able to see how they have decreased in the last years. |
Recientemente han salido publicados en la prensa unos datos del Ministerio del Interior donde se mostraba una relacion con el indice de delincuencia por habitante de los municipios costeros. En la comparacion de Mijas con Marbella, Fuengirola y Torremolinos nuestro municipio tenia menor indice de delitos. Igualmente en nuestra urbanizaciOn se ha venido observando como la tendencia, en cuanto a delitos mayores se refiere, viene disminuyendo en los ultimos anos. |
| Also published in the newspaper was the information that Mijas was going to be given only the services of the National Police and that the Mayor wanted to have the Guardia Civil as well. All this happened at the same time as the famous shooting in Puerto Banus, where the Mayor of Marbella, in several articles published in the newspapers, required the involvement of the Guardia Civil in these types of crimes who only covered environmental matters and coastal guarding, since the National Police had started providing policing Marbella. This news alarmed us because we could be left without the services of the Guardia Civil in our urbanisation. We shouldn't think that the National Police will give a worse service than the Guardia Civil, but it is true that when they start to cover this area, there will be less policemen, they will be in charge of Fuengirola and Mijas and all the urbanisations (which, in the case of Mijas, is more than one hundred). For the time being, we do know that our urbanisation is quite safe with the Guardia Civil and that the Local Police, due to there not being enough policemen, aren't often seen around here. |
Tambien apareciO en la prensa que Mijas iba a contar con la presencia de la Policia Nacional, y que el Alcalde queria contar tambien con la Guardia Civil. Esto sucediO casi al mismo tiempo que el famoso tiroteo de Puerto Banus, donde la Alcaldesa de Marbella, en varios articulos aparecidos en la prensa solicitaba la presencia de la Guardia Civil para intervenir en este tipo de delincuencia puesto que desde la entrada de la Policia Nacional en Marbella el cuerpo de la Guardia Civil quedaba exclusivamente para delitos medio ambientales y de vigilancia de las costas. Estas noticias nos alertaron puesto que podria ocurrir que la Guardia Civil dejase de prestar el servicio en la urbanizacion. No debemos de pensar que la Policia Nacional lo haga peor que la Guardia Civil, sin embargo, es posible que la Policia Nacional, en los inicios de su implantaciOn en nuestro termino, cuente con menos efectivos, que tenga que hacerse cargo de los municipios de Fuengirola y el de Mijas, y de las urbanizaciones, que en el caso de Mijas son mas de cien. Por el momento, si sabemos que con La Guardia Civil nuestra urbanizacion esta bastante controlada y que la Policia Local, por falta de efectivos, no se ve mucho por nuestras calles. |
| For this reason we have sent a letter to the Mayor of Mijas, to the Sub-Delegate of the Government of Malaga, to the person in charge of the Guardia Civil in the Province, to the Ministry of the Interior and to the General Directors of State Security requesting that the Guardia Civil continue to service our area and not be pushed aside with the entrance of the National Police. It would be ideal if both security forces stayed in the same municipality as this way we would be more protected. Now we are waiting for the results of these actions taken, although we do not have much hope in getting positive results. |
Por este motivo nos hemos dirigido al Alcalde de Mijas, al Subdelegado del Gobierno de Malaga, al responsable de la Guardia Civil en nuestra provincia, al Ministerio del Interior, asi como a Direcciones Generales de Cuerpos y Fuerzas del Estado solicitando que la Guardia Civil pudiese continuar entre nosotros, y no sea desplazada con la Ilegada de la Policia Nacional. Lo ideal seria que las dos fuerzas de seguridad se queden en el mismo municipio, de este modo estariamos mas protegidos. Desde la AUUM tambien se ha solicitado la permanencia de la Guardia Civil. Estamos a la expectativa de los resultados de estas actuaciones aunque no estamos demasiado esperanzados en que se logren resultados favorables. |
